Welcome to Scrap Yarn Games

Once upon a time, there was a book goblin that spent a lot of time in the local library. Hidden in the stacks was a short story called A Mother's Yarn. It's a tale of resilience and of using what you have to make a better world, even if all you have are your wits and a scrap of yarn.

Scrap Yarn Games came about through a deep-dive into solo games. While RPGs with a group are super fun, we all know how tricky it can be to align schedules and tell in-depth stories with limited time. I started playing solo RPGs as a way to explore stories that the short window of group RPGs didn't allow, and I found something quiet meditative. It's just you and your rulebook and your imagination. I tapped into a tangled pile of creativity scraps that I had forgotten about.

In February of 2024, a friend proposed an artistic exploration. With just a couple of inspiring photos, I was challenged to create something with them. And suddenly, I could see how all my scraps wove into a tapestry. Ten months later, The Sylvan was published.

My goal with Scrap Yarn Games is to create RPG adventures for super small groups of players - one or two at most. Because sometimes, you just need to take a moment to spin a tale that is just for you.
